Blue Man Group Postpones Launch of New Orlando Show at Icon Park

ORLANDO, Florida – The eagerly awaited re-appearance of Orlando’s Blue Man Group seems to be in doubt again due to the holdbacks on the construction at their new site at Icon Park.
Though originally slated to debut April 3, 2025, the show was to take place in a new, 580-seat theater close to the Orlando Eye on International Drive. Yet to date, that theatre is unfinished. As of Wednesday, excavation work had gone ahead with heavy machinery on site, but vertical construction was still not seen.
Blue Man Group released an official statement addressing the delay:
“We are thrilled about our return to Orlando, which marks the opening of our first-ever theater built from the ground up. Unfortunately, that comes with occasional challenges. We continue to work hard to make progress and can’t wait to bring Orlando all the surprising, fun, and iconic moments you’ve come to expect.”
Although no new official opening date has been confirmed, the Blue Man Group website is now listing the show as “opening soon in Orlando.” Ticket sales are still active, with the earliest available date being May 29, 2025 — one week after the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe theme park.
In an email to ticket holders, the company explained the decision:
“In order to deliver the best experience to our audiences, we have made the decision to postpone our opening previously scheduled for April 3, 2025.” Full refunds are currently being processed.
Blue Man Group stages colorful performances characterized by percussion, painting, and comedy and remains speechless. The company’s original birthplace was in NYC in 1987. The current locations besides NYC include Boston, Las Vegas, Berlin, and Shanghai.
Orlando returns were first announced in June 2024, aiming for a year-end opening. A ceremonial groundbreaking occurred in September 2024, shortly followed by a confirmation of the April 2025 opening date.
After closing its long-running shows in New York and Chicago just months prior, the company stated in January that its plans for the Orlando site continue. The new production is expected to include both classic Blue Man routines and new musical performances.
Blue Man Group previously had a 14-year residency at Universal Orlando, where it performed at a converted theater near Universal CityWalk. It was suspended due to COVID-19 in 2020 and subsequently closed following that year.
The collective is now integrated into the overall Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, which acquired Blue Man Productions in 2017. Cirque also runs “Drawn to Life” at Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs.
